Sustainable Agriculture Program

The Sustainable Agriculture Program is aimed at ensuring the environmental, social and economic responsibility of the agricultural supplies Arcor produces and acquires by implementing purchasing and agricultural production practices and standards.

To achieve this, each of the businesses analyzes and characterizes the provision of its main supplies to then develop practices and implement purchasing and agricultural production standards that allow them to ensure long-term sustainability.

The main supplies involved within the program are sugar, cereals (corn and wheat), fruits and vegetables, fat and oils (animal and vegetable), cocoa byproducts and dairy byproducts.

SOME INITIATIVES

Sustainable Sugar Production.

Arcor Group's La Providencia Sugar Mill became the first sugar mill in Argentina to achieve the Bonsucro certification in early 2017, a global platform that fosters the economic, social and environmental sustainability in the sugarcane sector.

Palm Oil Certified by RSPO

In 2016, Arcor joined the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and that same year the RSPO certification was obtained in "chain of custody" for the dough balance system at the Arroyito Plant.

Clean Energies at La Providencia Sugar Mill.

The Sugar Mill has a power station to generate energy from bagasse (renewable fuel), which is obtained as a residue during sugar cane processing. The energy generated allows the Sugar Mill's energy self-supply during the sugar cane harvest and generates a surplus aimed at satisfying the need of the Province of Tucumán.

Sustainability at Dairy Farms

Development of a sustainability survey to encourage the improvement in the management of environmental and social aspects at own dairy farms.
